Victoria, a friend from school, was driving back to Connecticut before I would be back to visit, so we decided to meet for the day in Indy. We went to the zoo and got there pretty early. The zoo is right on the river and not very large, but it has plenty of animals. The best part was all the shows. Besides the dolphin show, there were a lot of other shows and events like elephant bathing, giraffe feeding, and talks about wildlife or specific animals. These events made it that much better because there were places to go at specific times. When we started watching the elephant show it started to rain unfortunately. It stopped after a little while and we got Dippin Dots. Super cold! We ate lunch outside the zoo at the picnic tables. There were tons of things to see, komodo dragons, meerkats, tons of venomous snakes, even goats and a humongous rabbit. Rhinos, baboons, lemurs, bald eagles. After we were done there we went to the butterfly conservatory and walked around the gardens. It had gotten hot again after it rained. It was a long day but super fun!
After that weekend Andy brought me a slice of banana cream pie his mom made and then Lora and I decided to make one. It's really just crust, banana, and the filling made out of sugar, milk, egg yolks, and flour. It's actually really good but even better when I put some of my chocolate mousse on it.
I have been doing a lot of reading, not too many movies. I read Omnivore's Dilemma, it is really long so it took a while. It's really filled with tons of stuff most people don't know about the food we eat. The role of government, corn, chemicals. I definitely want to buy better stuff, I get zucchini and green beans at the farmer's market. I started reading the third Twilight book and the fourth one is waiting for me at the library.
Last week I turned in my pool waiver so I could use the pool near my house for free because I am poor. The pool is usually packed but I figured I could go a few times.
