Last Week of Class!
This week was pretty busy because I had a lot of stuff going on, plus meetings to go to. Monday I had my committee meeting after my lab meeting so I got ready for that. For some reason I was so nervous about giving my presentation. In the end it didn't matter much and I thought it was kind of a waste of time. I was just unbelievably nervous, like how I was at Allegheny for my comp. I could barely eat lunch! We talked and it wasn't as bad as I thought, except at one point the professors asked what the point was if I already finished two of my objectives and the third one might not be testable. I got through it and it was over but it WASN'T. One of my professors had a huge amount of revisions for me to do. I had already been through four drafts with my own advisor so this was kind of a big pain. Plus I had counted on doing my GIS paper this week. It was ten pages and mostly lit reviews but it still took up a lot of time taking notes. So Monday I worked on that and went home pretty late, after 5. Tuesday I met Justin at mt cup, the coffee shop. It was cool inside, I hadn't been there before. We actually had a good time talking, he had some funny stories and he just wanted to meet new people in the dept. Apparently his fiance broke up with him right after he got to school and he got stuck living with a bunch of undergrad girls. So he wasn't too happy being here. I had my office hours and finished grading the rest of the presentations. Tuesday night I went to play poker with Rob at this tournament. It was kind of a big deal and I didn't really know what was going on some of the time. I got a couple great hands in the beginning but I didn't really know what was good or not at that point so I missed out. I lasted longer than Rob though and a couple other people. The winner gets $100. After we were out we talked to this older guy at the bar and helped him eat his pizza. I played some songs on the jukebox too, it was fun.
I didn't go to the practice lab on Wed with my advisor I usually go to because it was just going to be presentations. I finished my revisions for my proposal and told that professor I would meet him on Friday. Thursday I had my last labs! It went ok, some of the presentations were really good. I worked a lot on my GIS paper in the afternoon, it was really bugging me because it was so tedious and time-consuming and I hadn't started it sooner. Thursday night I had a lot of stuff to do. I went to the wildlife society meeting and learned all about brine shrimp in Salt Lake. Then I went to the library and worked on my GIS paper more. Usually I have circle k after but instead they went out for pizza somewhere earlier and I didn't go. At 9 I had the truth movement meeting. It went for a long time. Friday was also super busy, I met with that professor early and went through more revisions. He's very difficult to please. After that I stopped by my advisor and got some suggestions on how to do the revisions. He also gave me some stuff to do for this grant proposal and ones that had been submitted before so I had an idea of what to do. I also have to write a paper for my topic approval form so he gave me last year's too. Then I had to get home to eat lunch and write my seminar paper before my office hours started. During those I finished all my grading. I also met a kid who had missed a bunch of classes for surgery and talked to him about what he needed to do. He might not even pass anyway. After that I had a meeting to go over stuff for next semester and next summer because my advisor will be in Australia next semester. Then I had my last class and seminar at 4.
After class was over I drove to Rob's to hang out. We went out to get dinner at this restaurant called Ram. There are only two in Indiana. It was pretty cool and they had a lot to pick from. Their desserts were huge! I didn't want one but they were enough for four people. We went to his friend's place and played hearts for a while, it was fun because I am good at hearts :) I hate losing. Then we watched TV for a while and I came home. Saturday I woke up later in the morning and worked on my GIS paper after watching Top Chef. I worked most of the afternoon after I took a shower and got a lot done. My paper is done, most of the revisions are done that I can do right now, plus I started my topic approval paper. Now all I need is to do my grant proposal paper which has most of my proposal in it anyway. And make a one page resume. Saturday evening I went grocery shopping with Stephanie, I only needed a few things but I spent just as much as every other week because I needed vitamins. We passed by the movie theater and Stephanie asked if I had seen Australia. When we got home Courtney asked if we were going to see Australia sometime. So we went! There was one show playing at 7:30, it's so long that was the last showing. With previews it was almost 3 hours. First we stopped at CVS to get some snackies for the movies. Courtney got Dots and something else, Stephanie got sour gummies and I got Reese's Pieces. As for the movie? It was amazing, I love it, I want to go to Australia and ride horses. It made me cry too! I have almost never cried in a theater but it made me cry a lot! I want to see it again, maybe with Mike next week. Rob came over after we got home and then we went out to the store and got Ben and Jerry's for everyone. It was a ton of fun, Courtney made popcorn and we watched Guess Who on TV. So much fun.
