Monday's Putterings

Topics contained herein:
A jealous snit and many completed tasks - including a minor submission.

Weather / Phenology:
A lovely day. There was a period this morning when each of the household mammals (except me) found a perfectly sized patch of sunlight.

Mood Summary:
At the moment I’m dead-tired. I wish I would have had more time to spend with my husband but he’ll be home early tomorrow night so I can hold out until then. I’m looking forward to snuggling up next to him for a few minutes before he wakes up.

A funny: It was R-‘s sister’s birthday today. He remembered to call her at about 9:30. I was embroiled in some writing, wearing my headphones, but I noticed him talking. In fact, I noticed that I couldn’t hear what he was saying. I remember thinking “Yup. He goes subliminal with her too.”, before I turned my attention to my task. So, I’m sitting there, be-bopping along to my music. when suddenly - clear as a bell - I hear him say “Casey”. (That would be the name of the one woman from his past that makes me crazy.) I cranked my head to look at him hawkishly while pulling the plugs from my ears. Sure enough, he was referencing his former girlfriend. I think I plucked the name right out of his head - there’s no way I could have really heard him. This girl is not even one that he slept with in our early courtship. (That would have been Donna … and maybe Mary.) That was about 15 years ago folks. Apparently I shall never forgive her for her sins. I can’t believe I’m still that sensitive about her.

In fairness, there is another woman whose name makes me mental. I can’t recall it right now, but she worked with him … damn. Can’t get it.

Accomplishments:
Tons of stuff. Most importantly I submitted that little piece I’ve been working on for the Louden project. I worked through about 90% of my routines. I also exercised and tended to my physical needs pretty well. And the house looks nice. I cooked. I cleaned. I did laundry. I did the animal chores - all the stuff I’m supposed to do. And I treated Ch- well today. He finished several projects of his own. There should be no homework tomorrow.

Five Gratitudes:
1) For the moment that I knew the Louden piece was done. I checked the word count and it was exactly 750. I had been keeping an eye on it but it was pretty cool anyway. It came out spot on after the editing too. In fact, the result 751 inspired me to notice a passive sentence that could be rewritten to cut the “was”.
2) For the instinct to dance around during my walk. I must remember how good it feels to move.
3) For today’s email communications with R--. I sent him a huge, scary list of tasks and he took it in stride. He’s also funny.
4) For the smoothness of the financial system. We really have approached interchangeability. R-balanced the cooks this morning and I entered some receipt and paid some bills this afternoon. Slick.
5) For the warm bed I’m about to crawl into.

Exercise / Step Count:
Shoot. I meant to put that on today. I stretched out and took a 20 minute brisk walk.
