Sat - Mon Scores & Daily Summaries
This was a very social weekend that featured Mz. Write's book among other things.
Monday:
Finished reading a new Anne Rice novel, Blackwood Farm, as soon as I got out of bed. Though I've been leary of her stuff since the vampire chronicals got out of hand, I enjoyed this book immensely. (I absolutely adored the Mayfair Witches series.) I spent the rest of the day putting the house back together after some neglect, taking care of the animals and visiting with M-- while she reconstructed her computer contents. (ITunes rocks. They gave her a one-time-only opportunity to download all the music she purchased in the last TWO YEARS.) Fetched pizza for dinner and worried about R-- who didn't get home until nearly ten o'clock. (He was seeking treatment for an ear infection of all things.) We all watched most of a show on PBS about the preservation of the Constition, Bill of Rights and ... I've gone blank.) The house grew cool and we all tucked into bed earlier than usual.
Sunday:
Slept in. Harvested lovely lettice to share with Gmom, The Godfather & my brother-in-law. ('Meant to make some grateful gesture toward both men but got hung up on how to actually make things right and whether or not I need to make things right. By the time I decided to go ahead and stick balloons into their yards, the balloon shop was closed. I may do that on Tuesday.) 'Helped M-- get to Best Buy so that she could fix the computer problem that resulted from the storm that went through on Thursday or Friday. (Ended up bringing her out the house so she could get back online using our connection.) 'Met with Mz K-- to discuss the aforementioned problem with feeling overly indebted to people that don't think I have any value ... and my under-attachment to people that seem to think I have more value than I believe I could possibly have.
Saturday:
Slept in, cleaned up, got a ride into town, met with Mz D--, met with Mz Write, went to "adult toy" party, fetched Mr. Write, returned home to R--, made things nice, visited into the wee hours, crashed. In my absence from the house, The Godfather and my brother-in-law came out to bang on Sadie with 2X4s and mallets and to install a bolt and cotter pin to keep the hood closed. We got to see and hold Mz Write's real-live book in our hands. (Great cover and much good news regarding the official publication which will actually happen in August.) We found out that we are not only mentioned in a scene of the book, which we knew from reading the manuscript, but that we are also listed in the acknowledgements. THAT is a trip! We don't really deserve it but it was a wonderful surprise.
