French Hoods: An Ongoing Obsession is now live! It’s the sum total of my work to date on the topic of French Hoods and is a seriously expanded from previous iterations of the research that have been featured online here and elsewhere.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve heard from a lot of readers of this website that the thing they miss the most was all the really detailed step-by-step research diaries (kind of a cross between research and dress diary). I took most of those down because I didn’t have the time to maintain updates for new projects and then there was some issues with people simply not giving credit for what was obviously my research (plagiarists are the only people I really hope burn in hell), so I retaliated by making the research harder to steal by converting it all into PDF format. That irritated a good number of you, but I still think in some ways it’s a good idea to have these things downloadable rather than just available for people to copy/paste any old time.
Anyway, ultimately, I realized there has to be a bit of a balance. Some of the old diaries will eventually be put back online, including a rewritten and seriously updated version of the first research article I ever posted, “Farthingales & Bumrolls”. I’ve been wanting to update that article for forever, it’s so embarrassingly written. ;)
