I'll have my top singles of the year on the blog soon. Mr. Green's hit is a strong contender, certainly. Don't much like anything else I've heard from either of his projects, but that song is GREAT...
"Listen to the Radio" is maybe the best thing on that album. I don't get why people like "Fading Into Obscurity", though. Meh.
My song of the year is Josh Ritter's "Thin Blue Flame". Wow.
My friend Holly called it "boring sleepytime Radiohead crap" or something, but I love Radiohead and I love it. She likes Hall & Oates, so STEP OFF!
Sometimes I think Sloaners have trouble handling anything more involved than a 3-minute snark-pop song with hooks digging in everywhere. But then I'm an asshole, so... ;)
I am not sure why that song is getting so maligned. The soaring "It's on my hands" causes goose bumps EVERY TIME I hear it. I asked JPTP why they don’t do it live, of course he said they hadn't learned it (as of Ottawa) and then went on to say they had enough slow songs as it was. I love "I Understand" also but "Listen" had me from he first time I heard a taste of it on the "Never see the end of it" blips. Pentland is at his best when emotion is there! (Worried Now, I can fell it, It's in your eyes)
