It feels like centuries have passed by before reaching Chinese New Year
again. I think everyone feels it in the air,2005 is owned! Everyones
bustling around happy and laughing because its their time to shine and
to celebrate in what they believe in. As for I, I feel a bit
guilty that Im the only generation in my family to carry on the
traditions for Chinese New Year, but I have no clue on what the ongoing
process is. All the preperations and the foods, along with the
flowers and "holy water'. My mom was praying all day yesterday,
she told me to splash water in my face that she had, and to not enter
through the garage for a while. All these things might sound
superstitious to many, but for a deeper look, many have to understand
that there are peoples way of honoring, and warding off evils. A
part of me wishes I was a bit more asian oriented right now, but right
now ill just enjoy what is around me. I wonder how my children
are going to be, with the less traditional views and rituals.
Will they be more white washed? Will they marry other ethnicities and
have our blood washed further away from the family tree?" I can only
hope that in due time I will able to learn more and incorporate into my
life.
