On the origin of Mod or The preservation of favoured names in the struggle for nomenclature
Click to viewMy early and still persistent penchant for playing with puns and other wordplay came to an interesting apex one day as I tried to find an amusing way that I was neither big, nor bad as an allusion to an old friend who was very large and his playfighting theme song was the last few lines of the advert above. He was big dom, so in contrast I commented, I must be li'l mod.
The li'l mod name stuck around for a few months, but eventually it was shortened to just plain old 'mod' which has been my preferred handle in real life now for 15 years. Even if people don't know it, its meaning at least reflects something of my character. My real first name, meaning 'warlike' or 'dedicated to the God of War', doesn't really reflect much of me at all...other than the fact I am a human.
This has been posted before, in one way or another, but on a note of randomness I found the youtube video above and thought I'd update it (the last post on the subject only had a still from the above advert).
