Hummingbirds

Yes it's mid-November! and we recently put out our new hummingbird feeders. This after L had seen a few visits to the still blooming nasturstiums from http://birdweb.org/birdweb/bird_details.aspx?id=262. I heard then saw one of our hummer visitors this morning, early - around 7:30am. The outdoor (likely inaccurate) thermometer was reading less than 40 degrees F.  I was wondering where a little hummer would hunker down for the bitter cold, especially when there is ice encrusting all things (recalling the ice storm we had a few years ago that covered many things with 1/2" of ice). Burr....

The Anna's Hummingbird apparently doesn't migrate or has kin that are more northerly than us that migrate south to us. But from the description, that is unlikely since they are primarely from  So I plan to keep the feeders up until we no longer see any vistors...  one is just outside of L's office window where she spends quite a bit of time.
