MF is a bit old to play Catelyn, but it doesn't bother me too much since they aged up all the kids, too. Mostly I just appreciate her acting skillz (seriously that character feature on Renly for S2, where he tells her that the Lannisters will pay for Ned's death, her face is FLAWLESS, she's doing the whole 'proud-envoy-of-my-son-the-king' stance with her chin tilted up but her eyes are just so tired and devestated UGH PERFECT). Mostly I prefer book!Catelyn to show!Catelyn because they kind of...toned her down a little bit, and I like her just as she is! (When they were attacked on the way to the Eyrie WHERE WAS CATELYN CUTTING SOME BITCHES DOWN THE WAY THAT SHE SO DID???) But I think MF does a good job with what she's given.
OH ALSO. I have to add I also loved Catelyn telling Ned that he would always be hers, because it's something I always wondered about, Aemon says that they have men take vows to take no wife and father no children because then they 'will not love.' And leaving aside how just...not right that is (like what, Benjen doesn't love Ned? Jon doesn't love Robb and Arya?), what happens with the traitors and criminals who are sentenced to the Wall, who ALREADY have taken wives and fathered children? I mean, obviously marriages can be broken but that doesn't stop the FEELINGS.
SQUEEEEE I'm so glad you enjoyed writing this because I certainly enjoyed reading it! It was definitely SO sad but I'm kind of a sucker for sadness with these two when it's not between them, but with all the crap they have to deal with, I think because one of the reasons I love them so much is because they're so functional in a dysfunctional world. <3
