Police have issued CCTV footage of the moment a hapless arsonist set fire to himself when trying to set fire to an Atherton nightclub.
At about 4am on Saturday 19 January 2008, an offender on a moped rode up to the front door of the Decibel nightclub on Market Street.
He threw a lit petrol bomb at the door of the nightclub, but set fire to himself in the process. He managed to extinguish the flames on himself and rode off in the direction of Smith Street.

The nightclub's front door was damaged by the flames, but no-one else was injured.
The offender was wearing dark clothing and a dark helmet, and riding a dark coloured moped.
Officers have now obtained footage of the incident which clearly shows the offender riding up to the front of the nightclub and attempting to splash it with petrol. He then set fire to the petrol, igniting himself in the process.
Sergeant Dave Johnston of Atherton police said: "This was a reckless and dangerous act which could easily have claimed the life of the offender.
"However, he managed to extinguish the flames and slowly left the scene, probably in some pain.
"We want to know if anyone recognises the biker, or his motorbike. Also, does any remembers someone coming home that night possibly smelling of petrol or with singed clothing?
"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
