Turkey is gone
I remember, once in class, we had this girl, who liked to pretend she was smart. Keep in mind this is an advanced class, and everyone is supposed to at least a year ahead. Anyway, at some point, we get to talking about Turkey, they country, and she says "Turkey doesn't exist anymore."
My boyfriend and I, him being able to list every country in the world by continent, have to hold our mouths to stop from cracking up. "Yes, it does, it never disappeared."
"No it doesn't," she insists, "It did a long time ago, but it doesn't now."
So, we get out the atlas and show her Turkey. "Well, when was it published, it looks pretty old?"
And, to humor her, we look. 1996. "1996."
"See, so its too old, it still has Turkey."
Glad to know, I'll tell the Turks they don't exist.
