I just realized that I never posted on here that I was going to Italy. Either way, I'm back!! It was amazing!!!! This was the first time I was overseas and far from the last. I think my next destinations will be Ireland and Greece.
Italy was so beautiful, the weather, the buildings, everything. Rome was my favorite (I went to Rome, Florence and Venice.) It had so many interesting sights! Florence was interesting and was the least tourist-y and had some aaaaamaaaaaaaaaaaazing views, especially from Piazzalo Michaelangelo and the Companile near Duomo. I think I would have liked Venice more if it wasn't entirely tourist-based. It was definitely a sight to see, though. It was fun taking the vaporetti.
We actually met a guy from Long Island that went to Stony Brook for linguistics and then ended up living in Italy peddling tours to the Vatican. Small world.
Pictures to come! Perhaps more descriptions as well.
Oh and I got to eat lots of interesting Italian food!!! I had lots of pizza (the best was seafood pizza in Venice and Vic tried pizza "according to the chef's fantasy"...turns out his fantasies are lame lol...there was also "rocket" pizza lmao mistranslations are fun), pasta (mmm gnocchi!), tiramisu (every restaurant makes it entirely different, it was always interesting to see what I'd get, the best was at the restaurant next to our hotel in Florence, and our waitress was amazing...I wasn't sure what dessert I wanted so she gave me one of everything for the price of one!!!! I left her a tip, which you don't have to do in Italy, it's supposed to be included), and gelati (We had to try every flavor and every gelateria has home-made gelati so it's always different). The most interesting food I ate was cuttlefish in squid ink, which was surprisingly delicious, even if it did turn my mouth, teeth and tongue black! There were lots of cute little outdoor cafes. Heh...in most of the restaurants at least once during the meal a guy from off the streets would come in and sell roses and sometimes weird glowing objects.
I'll tell more of my adventures later when I have the pictures up.
Ciao!!!!
