I am writing a book report for LAWS 4604 (international human rights & law) on a book i read called Leopold's Ghost. This has been the most evocative and sould hsattering book I have read in awhile and strongly urge YOU all to read..its about the colonisation of the Congo. After finishing it yesterday i didnt want to move or speak..in fact at the same time i wanted to scream.
Of course we are all aware of the bountiful attrocities that face humans and the endless human rights violations that occur every second of every day..
If there is one thing this degree has taught me, its that Human rights are a fallacy and merely serve to perpetuate priviledged discourses while our global capital drives inquities deeper and deeper into an institutional norm...
somedays I cant understand how each of us can be made of the same stuff..organs, bone to skin and back again..yet be capable of such diverse things..
how can we find it ourselves to hurt other people..?
NOnetheless, I know that there are always magical wisps of untouchable happiness that keep our souls warm and these things are unbreakable..like hot chocolate, the sky and a really great hug..
sigh.
last night i took myself on a date and saw Shortbus...fabulous film, not as geekily overdone as i thought it might be..Sook Yin was really great ....and wow some of the BEST queer, self-lovin i ever saw on a screen..yayayaya!
after watching this movie about a womon needing to acheive orgasm, the only fitting thing to do next was....
dance! i danced my arse numb at DJ jazzy Jeff last night..
its amazing, that place that dancing takes me truly is, where my modjo gets its booyaka kicks... supplement sweat for goo and there you have it..
it was so fun, i almost didnt notice that boy I have a crush on was whimsically entertaining himself with a very cool other lady...
oh well... how rto stop thinking about someone, who does not think about you..how i love feeling 10..!
