[manga] Cross Game, Volume 7 - Chapter 53 & 55
Spent the night crunching numbers so when I needed to take a break, what better way than to calm down and de-stress by re-reading Cross Game. I save on reading this specifically for rainy days like this. (Possible spoiler for episode 17 of the anime.)
Ko and Azuma aren't exactly friends. At least not yet. So it's surprising when Azuma offers to carry Ko's school bag when his previous comment was a disparaging remark at Ko's lack of stamina. Of course, the mystery is cleared up when it's revealed that he did so to make Ko jog to school while he himself takes the train.
And then there's the little matter of Aoba finally going on a date after all this time. Her little sister Momiji checks around to see who the date could be...
...and interrupts the guys about to prepare their instant ramens.
It's not Koh. It's not Azuma. Who could it be?
Nothing seems out of the ordinary as Koh starts digging in.
Azuma's comment appears innocuous at first but it actually reveals Koh's true reaction to the news of Aoba dating.
It's the little things, the simple yet subtle things like this, the way he chooses to reveal things, that make this series and Adachi-sensei so great.
Sorry the pictures aren't that good, but it's still readable at least. The first shot was when I accidentally left the flash on. I thought it came out blurry but it was actually pretty clear. I know to use flash for next time now.
