A crepuscular light--the afterglow of a day

Dusk. I was in my room absorbed in a book on subculture when I noticed a soft, pink light-like rose champagne- pouring into my room. It had been a bleak, cloudy, colorless day so this sudden distraction, with its heavenly aura of gold and damask hues was truly a thing of beauty. The oasis in an endless stretch of white sands momentarily quenching my thirst and rejuvenating me in body and mind after my futile battles with a scorching, merciless sun.

I put my book down, grabbed my digital camera and headed outside. For a few minutes I stood in the hallway taking in the view of my neighborhood at twilight time. Some pix.

Out of all the times of the day, I have to say I love dusk the best (Although, dawn is a close second). I love how it lies ‘betwixt’ day and night but is neither and more so for its transiency. In this sweet and all-too-brief moment before nightfall, the sun takes a deep breath and silently reflects upon all that has transpired and ponders wistfully on what will come to be. Perhaps it’s beckoning and quietly suggesting all of us, with our insatiable hunger for material things and our hectic, never-ending quest in search of them, to forget about all of this for a moment and do the same.

Looks like it’s going to be a sunny, autumn day tomorrow. I think I’ll take a little break from my studies and work to go to the ‘Boro-ichi’ (Flea market where vendors sell antique junk)at the Takahata Fudo Temple and see if there are any cute knick-knacks to put on the bay window in my room. I want to take a walk in the mountains around the temple where you can get a great view of the city and the Tama River.
