Hello? Anyone there?

Since I haven't been, why would you be?

In passing, I note items of the good:

1) the Yoga for Stress Relief routine I just completed seems to have done the job. Except I can hardly type coherently.

2) Many knitting projects completed (possibly less good, the total number on the needles never seems to decrease)

3) Although weeks late, I can safely say that the Ashland trip was delightful, and I managed to attend a yoga session there with my hostess which was exceptionally relaxing and energizing at the same time.

3A) While in Ashland I  frivolously bought a new hand spindle even though I don't really know how to use the beginner one I already have...but this one just felt REALLY nice -- a nice little 2" Schacht Hi-Lo that can  be used either direction and is best suited to thinner yarns if i understand it corectly.

3B) The plays were less enthralling in the dead week of the end of August except for the incredibly rowdy, lively and musical Comedy of Errors, a Western version filled with song, dance and farce. I think however that I no longer need to undergo any further productions of Our Town.

4) The Santa Monica Book Fair last weekend was acceptable as far as sales went, and provided many opportunities to see old friends and remember past ones. I managed to slip off from set-up to get down to the memorial service for the father figure of San Diego booksellers, Chuck Valverde of Wahrenbrocks. I'm not sure I'd be a full-time bookseller by now if it hadn't been for the advice and support Chuck gave so generously as he did to all the younger generation of book people in town. I started buying books from him when I got to college in San Diego and I never stopped.

5) Got to visit the Aged P on the way south and north last weekend, trying to get in as many visits as possible before he fades too far to appreciate the attention. Happily, his younger sister is visiting from Florida this week, so although I missed seeing her, he's getting his socialization spread out a little so he can enjoy it more.

6) Fall is starting to come here and the deer have taken over the hillside; I can't go outside without interrupting a young buck snacking on the "deer-proof' ground cover.
