Although better than yesterday, where we apparently went over 100 degrees here at 3000 feet. Grrr. However, many good things in the last week, so a little wilty heat shouldn't slow me down, right?
I had an amusing time at the BPAL Will-Call last Saturday (using a visit to the Aged P as justification for an unnecessary drive into the LA basin). Except for the two hours stuck in accident traffic returning up the Grapevine, it all went as planned and the staff was delightful (also a treat to see what various bottle labels look like and get an advance sniff of the next batch of scents plus some that may or may not ever be available). I have also received many, many samples and bottles in the mail in the last two weeks and my mania may finally be subsiding just a bit. But I am enjoying sampling the scents in my own sweet time (pun intended).
All boxes and bookcases stored in the Aged P's garage were collected and drug back home to repack and prep for Comic-Con. I need to have all materials ready for the truck in a week and a half (eep!). I foresee much book loading this next week, preferably downstairs in the coolth.
For the 4th of July, we cleverly decided to take the two-man kayak and canoes out on one of the lakes at higher elevation, and floated in the breezy cool all afternoon with B's older daughter and friends. It's a pain to get organized, but it was so worth the fuss.
And the weekend's excitement includes a visit from B's younger sister with the happy expectation of working on her financial plans, which do not as yet exist in any understandable format. How do you explain to a grown woman what a budget is for? Still, she has a good heart and takes excellent care of their elderly parents, for which much may be forgiven her.
Current reading includes Robert Graves' The Golden Fleece and Daphne DuMaurier's My Cousin Rachel, so after the laundry and the post office for shipping, and other errands, I may take the afternoon off and read. Or, more likely, start packing boxes. Happy weekend to any who read this mundane missive!
