Tuesday am it was off to Bakersfield for the semi-monthly check in with my dad. K & C came up from San Diego to see him too, for the first time since my mother died. They adopted my parents as surrogates years ago, so he was glad to see them. He'd been having a tiring week though with several falls, and his short term memory is getting much worse. Still, we had a nice visit with each of us trading off so we didn't wear out Mr. P or ourselves. K and I planned and made lovely dinners from her specialty menus...pork chops in apple/onion/cream sauce on Tuesday with a side of roasted asparagus (I know how to do that now) then the dish I call her Enchiladas Suizas casserole, with chicken, corn tortillas, tomatillos, green chiles, sour cream and two cheeses...to die for.
I managed to do Rodney's am yoga from memory (more or less) both Wednesday and Thursday, then headed for San Francisco Thursday afternoon to hit some bookstores and meet an old customer who wanted to sell off some of her books. Nine hours of driving, two bookstores and SF parking hassles, but I got home about 11:30 with five cartons of new stock. (treats! major data entry and uploading!)
Came back to a number of orders to ship on Friday. The lilacs are holding their own against the deer, the African violet B's sister gave me has actually re-bloomed (I generally kill those) and we had a lovely rain yesterday. A good day to do a more strenuous yoga routine, and today was the day to hike down for the mail. I'm almost relaxed from the drive, so I may be ready for the vacation driving starting Saturday when we head for the coast and then Ashland. The only play I remember for sure that we'll see is August Wilson's last one (Gem of the Ocean?), but there could be brief reviews of the other two after we do our theater-going.
Time to go make some dinner....
