Two weeks ago today we were concerned about getting the huge truck down to WonderCon because of the snow and ice. Today, it's 70 degrees and all the lilacs are budding madly and the Japanese maple outside my window went from contemplation of spring to full leaf in three days.
Unable to resist, I bought another lilac bush for the front and put a dwarf Korean lilac (I've never seen one before, so I have no idea what the bloom will be like) in a pot because there can't be too many lilacs as far as I'm concerned. And in a pot, I might not kill it so quickly.
I thought I had posted the photo of the complicated cable pattern (below) a week ago, but apparently it got stuck in the pipeline somewhere. I am unable to work out how to add actual text to the post, so I have to put it in here...this is the back of the long Viking-influenced tunic I've ripped out about six times. I had considered doing the pattern named Aud in honor of
ljs, but it wasn't quite challenging enough. Possibly a bad decision, but I'm not ripping this out again (I hope).
There are still a couple of dozen book boxes left over from Wondercon awaiting unpacking, but between show exhaustion and the time change, I seem to lack the energy. We spent our first free weekend in a month pruning the apple trees just before they decided to bud, cutting down and sawing up the dead maple, planting odd lilacs and bulbs, cleaning gutters, and disposing of some of the excess accumulation in the garage. Oh, and tax forms. Completed. I am very proud.
B is off to Atlanta next week to buy remainder books, but I've decided to pass this year. The only question remaining is whether I spend the time that he's away making a duty visit to the aged P or a frivolous visit to
rainkatt. I could possibly go north for frivolity first and take the next weekend for duty. Still trying to work this out, while rainkatt waits patiently for clarity. ::waves madly, hoping to do everything on the list::
