i have decided that we need a slow cooker. we spend a fortune on take-out-ish food now that kids do so many activities at night, and i have tried to make more of an effort to attend more school related meetings. none of that would make cooking so difficult if dh was ever around to lend a hand, but this job has him too far to help out much in the evening.
thus, my question is this. which one do i buy? looking around, i found a wide variety of price ranges, from just over $50 to a whopping $250. does price matter? does it matter that i won't be making a roast in it ever, making "browning" a non-issue for us? does brand matter? will the williams sonoma one be that much better than something with a less illustrious name?
come on cooks, help me out.
edit: if anyone has a recommendation for a rice cooker also, that would be great. i personally have no trouble making rice on the stove top, but uhm, dh.... yeah, there's no hope there. we do eat a substantial amount of rice, so this would be a good thing to have.
