Like the morning sun
“One day, you’re gonna do that and someone is not gonna dodge.”
Junho had laughed then. Dismissed the words just like he dismissed Taecyeon’s serious face because, well, when did Taecyeon ever mean anything when he wiggled his eyebrows right after speaking? And it was not like he should be worried. Whenever Junho pouted, made kissy faces at the camera and then pretended to be offering himself up to one of the guys--now waaaait a minute, why did he phrase it like that, no, he was the one teasing them, he was in control of the situation, he knew what he was doing--
(Except... maybe he didn’t think this through.)
It was just some kind of weird, running joke they had. Junho would do that, move his face a little too close, cross the invisible line that led to a millisecond of awkwardness and then they would all laugh at it. Chansung always turned away fast enough, the laughter already building up whenever Junho began the act, and then he cackled and shook his head at Junho as if he didn’t know what to make of him. Minjun put on an offended pretense, though sometimes he also turned his face closer to Junho just to test how far they’d both go. When he did that, Junho was the one who had to push him away and bitch at his hyung.
When sober, Nichkhun would shake his head just like Chansung, except the look on his face was different. His eyes would spark with mischief, telling of some secret that Junho was sure he had never shared with anyone, but Nichkhun still seemed to know. Alcohol did make Nichkhun a little too fond of his bandmates, though, so Junho tried to keep away from him when that happened. Wooyoung, on the other hand, simply shoved Junho’s face away no matter the situation, even when Junho was still just thinking about it, because Wooyoung had some weird kind of power that let him know when people were plotting things. Wooyoung was weird, but then so was Junho.
And Taecyeon...
(He hadn’t tried it with Taecyeon yet, because. Because--)
Here Junho’s mind went blank just as it did whenever the others asked him why he did that. Not that they talked about it often, because it was one of those things that could bring other off-putting issues to light. When it came to that, it seemed they still clung to the belief that boys would be boys. Junho was not entirely sure he understood what expectations of him that entailed, or that he agreed with it.
But as for the threat of a kiss that never happened--it was just for fun, he would say. He could do many things for fun and he did do them and he knew he could be insufferable but so could the others, in their different ways.
(Like Taecyeon, when he meant more with that stupid wiggle of his brows without letting Junho in on it.)
He was thinking about it now. Kissing--oops, no, just. Pouting at Taecyeon. Because Taecyeon was right there, next to him, talking about the pictures they should take as proof that he finally attended Junho’s concert, so that he could tease Junho about being a nagging mother-in-law--
“You okay, sunny boy?”
Junho didn’t even complain about the nickname Taecyeon had come up with for all the yellow things in his second tour. There were other possibilities, and he knew that if he seemed really upset, Taecyeon would only invent something else to either distract or tease him again. His mind was really far away right now, though. Or, actually, too close, but not for the right reasons.
Their sunbaenim was still around, so Junho just smiled brightly, said something about being tired--which he was, exhausted to be precise. He wanted to sleep for a whole week and he knew it wouldn't be enough, or possible. Their comeback was just around the corner, and he wasn't satisfied with his own progress for the new choreography. He needed to practice harder than all the others to make up for the time he had focused on his solo work.
"Junho," Taecyeon took his cap off and Junho tried to grab it back, but he noticed the other wasn't doing that to tease him. There was an understanding flicker to Taecyeon's patient smile, and Junho faltered, waiting for him to speak. Junho made sure his blond wig was in place and found another snapback for himself. "How about I take you straight to the hotel after this, so you can rest a little before catching the plane back?"
They had talked about going somewhere to eat and Junho didn't want to spoil that, but his body appreciated the offer and he nodded before he could think too much about it. Taecyeon put Junho's cap over his own head, sticking his tongue out at him as if to dare him to complain. Junho just smiled, though, and it was not forced this time.
They talked a little to Jinyoungnim after that, and they took more pictures before Taecyeon decided to help the staff with things Junho would gladly owe him for. It was very late by the time Taecyeon half dragged him on the way to the parking lot, his right arm around Junho's shoulders while the latter tried not to lean too much on him.

Junho awoke with his phone buzzing in his pocket. He didn't remember falling asleep but he wasn't entirely surprised upon realizing he was still in the car he had rented for going around whenever he was in Japan and didn't want to depend on the staff or waste too much money on taxi rides. Taecyeon had driven them to the hotel but the engine was off, and Junho wondered how long they had been there.
"Taecyeonie," he mumbled, sitting up and licking his lips. His mouth didn't taste so bad so he probably had dozed off for a little while only. When he looked to the side, Taecyeon was biting back a laugh, so Junho frowned and replaced his first question with another. "You didn't take a picture--" but Taecyeon's dimples showed through the mirth and Junho huffed, getting his phone to check how big the damage to his image had been.
Taecyeon had tweeted a pic of them both in the car, stating, "See how this punk thanks me for coming to see him!!! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ" The picture showed Junho sleeping on his seat, brown hair all messy and parted lips that were too close to Taecyeon's goofy pout, the puffed cheeks looking even more silly because he still wore Junho's cap, backwards.
Junho was too tired to throw one of his tantrums, so he just pouted, lips curved all the way down while he frowned. Minjun and Chansung, ever the late night owls in the group, were already tweeting them with amusing nonsense in between praises for Junho's concerts and asking Taecyeon to take care of him. Junho turned to glare at the giant goofy to his right, but Taecyeon was also pouting back at him, a playful if apologizing glint in his eyes.
"I'm sorry?" he said, and Junho snorted even as he tried to hold on to his annoyance.
"You're not," he said, crossing his arms over his chest and looking at the window behind Taecyeon, who had turned to face him. He chuckled, seeing right through Junho's pose, but Junho shrugged and turned to his phone again. He made the best puppy eyes he could, and he knew he was good at that, only his pout was even better, and snapped a pic of his face. Taecyeon tried to look over his shoulder to see what he was typing but Junho held the other’s face back and typed with the same hand in which his phone was. Taecyeon could easily overthrow him, but when his hand came around Junho's wrist, he didn't pull it away. He held it there and licked Junho’s palm instead.
Junho pulled his hand back so quick he almost hit himself. Taecyeon didn't look repentant at all. "What the fuck, man!"
While his hyung cackled, Junho added something else to his tweet, and then posted it with his selca. He smiled sweetly at Taecyeon, who looked slightly alarmed, which only made Junho's smile widen. It also added to his satisfaction that Taecyeon read the tweet out loud, his voice rising with vexation as he went on.
"Taec hyung is so evil ㅜㅜ and gross!!!!! Stop abusing Penpen!!!"
Junho made sure to laugh out loud, especially when Taecyeon gaped at him for a second, and then pouted again. They were being ridiculous, but Junho loved it, how easy it was and how it took his mind off things. Maybe he was too tired, but he indulged them both and turned to Taecyeon, pouting as well. Taecyeon chuckled but moved closer, wrinkling his nose as if they were fighting through this stupidity, and Junho went along, humming angrily and shaking his head as his lower lip turned down and Taecyeon's did the same.
The words echoed in his mind a little too late, in hindsight rather than the warning they were supposed to be. Taecyeon didn't dodge, and Junho understood, then, why he hadn't done this before. He had hoped Taecyeon wouldn't avoid it, he just wasn’t sure what it really was until then.
And then-- then was a little confusing moment. Their lips touched, yes, and Junho almost drew back because he thought that was what he should do, but Taecyeon's chuckle was only half hearted and he looked at Junho through half lidded eyes that spoke of things faster than Junho's mind could process his own thoughts, but he still got it. He felt it, too, the doubt and the question and the desire to try, again, and more.
There was no pout or fake anything when Junho leaned in, and he sighed through a tightened throat as Taecyeon pressed back, a light, lingering kiss that made Junho look up at him as he tried not to lick his lips. He had to bite into his lower lip from the intense gaze Taecyeon focused on him, not so much doubt anymore, a dark shimmer in his eyes that gripped at Junho's insides like a burning fist, ready to flow through his body.
Taecyeon looked at him as they moved in once more and Junho caught his eyes closing before he did the same, giving in to the feeling of Taecyeon's lips against his, parting to welcome more, Junho’s tongue licking at Taecyeon's lower lip in turn.
"Junho..."
Junho nodded as if that was all he needed to hear. He put his phone in the glove compartment, took Taecyeon's from him and did the same. Taecyeon looked a little bewildered, maybe lost now that he had found what he wanted, but Junho was only reassured by that. The way Taecyeon looked at him as Junho took the cap off and pulled at Taecyeon's hair, staring as his fingers moved through the locks and made them messier than the snapback had... Junho appreciated that gaze. Taecyeon also appreciated him.
He was very aware of Taecyeon's eyes on him, taking in his face as if looking at him for the first time. It made Junho want to smile, so he did, and then Taecyeon pulled him closer, and they were kissing again. Taecyeon's right arm circled around his middle, his hand like fire on Junho's still clothed skin, and he longed to arch into Taecyeon's body, but their current place and position wouldn't allow that. Junho still pressed further, though, boundaries vanishing and taking any remains of hesitation away. The kisses grew hotter, hard and passionate, Junho pulling at Taecyeon's hair and neck while Taecyeon caressed his back, and his collarbone, and his cheek, and--
"Junho," Taecyeon called again, not the half amazed, half wondering tone of before. He was stopping, and asking Junho to stop, holding onto the arm that went around his neck but not keeping Junho from pulling at his hair even as he dreaded this sudden surge of consciousness in Taecyeon's actions. "We're... this is not the right place. I doubt anyone would have followed us here, but..."
Oh. Junho's sigh was both amusement and relief at once, his smile fleeting only because he made sure to kiss Taecyeon one more time, quickly, before nodding. "Yeah." He noticed how heavy his breathing was, and felt his ears burning, but held Taecyeon's stare and bit into his own mouth, delighted in how that made Taecyeon grip at his flesh in spite of his words. Junho’s skin felt warm where Taecyeon touched him, clothes or not.
"I should get going, and you need to--"
Junho laughed. "This is my car. I should take you--"
"You don't need to--"
"Yeah, I don't." Junho laughed again, both at what he just remembered and how flustered Taecyeon looked right then. "You're staying in the same hotel as me, hyung."
Taecyeon's lips formed the perfect O that he had also got from Junho a few seconds ago, though Junho's had only been a thought. His face softened, then, and he kissed Junho's wrist, letting go of his arm to cup his face and then caress his throat as they kissed again, slower, yet Junho's body felt like it was heating up faster than ever now.
"Are you..." Junho trailed off, to allow and then to relish it as Taecyeon kissed down his neck, going up to his jawline. He could probably feel the pulse under his lips. Junho swallowed, and Taecyeon paused to look at him, his hungry eyes almost too much for Junho to bear. "Do you have your own room or are you sharing--"
"I'm alone."
Junho nodded, taking a moment to steady his breathing. He knew that, Taecyeon had come alone even though he had attended the concert with their sunbaenim. Junho’s mind was quite fogged right now for him to remember that, or focus on things other than the fingers carressing at his back and sides, his shirt rolling gently across his skin as Taecyeon got access to his waistline. Junho’s breathing sped up again. "So nobody would... mind if you didn't show up, or..."
Taecyeon smiled at him, his other hand tracing the contours of Junho's left ear. "It would be a waste of money... I did book the room myself, and it was not cheap." At Junho's indignant huff, Taecyeon shook his head and smiled almost apologetically. "No, nobody would miss me."
Junho let go of another breath, one he didn't know he was holding.
"I'd gladly share your room tonight," Taecyeon said, reading his averting glance and busy hands too easily. Junho wondered how long he had been observing, if this had started around the time Taecyeon had first warned him, which was well over a year ago. But he could find that out later. "And after that," Taecyeon added, before Junho could even think of asking.
He smiled again. "Yeah, I'd like that too," he said, because maybe Taecyeon also needed the reassurance. From the way he smiled back at Junho, it worked.
