Graduation was last night and I seriously, SERIOUSLY didn't feel anything during it either. I didn't cry or get overwhelmed or even get teary at the fact that the familiar faces I've been with the past 4-13 years of my school life may never be seen by me again. I don't think it really will hit me until the most random ass time either.
But anyways, I'll go into what happened yesterday so I'll always know.
Alisha came to get me to go to rehearsal at 10:40, and it went from 11 to 1:30. Dr. Butler gave her speech then and Erin started crying during it. She gave out lavender flowers and Mr. Merritt gave fake test things to the World Civ class of 2001-2002. I'll miss Merritt. Then I went home and shaved my legs because I was planning on wearing my paisley print dress under my robe, and the robe only goes to mid-calf. As I was getting ready, Dad called to say he was on his way and Mike called to ask about the weather. Dad showed up about 3:40 as Mom was curling my hair and so he sat and watched TV as I bustled around. He gave me a gold chain with a gold 'C' on it, and I wore it all night. ^_^ Anthony showed up sometime around 4:30, and he and Dad talked a lot through the whole night. They like each other, which is very good. In fact, the whole family likes Anthony. Not that I care so much about everyone else but...
Anyways, sometime after 5, after I'd been given my purple and white lei we left. I rode in Anthony's car and Grandma and Mom were in Dad's. The rest of the family was going to meet us there so we went early to get seats. I went backstage when all the other graduates did and we waited a long time to file out. Chris Flores and I hugged! More on that later, but it was soooo nice to know he doesn't hate me.
The ceremony went quicker than I'd thought it would. There was a lot of shouting from our class because we aren't fans of shutting the hell up. ^___^ Anyway, with a lot of enthusiasm, cheers, shouts and tears, each and all of us walked across the stage and got our diploma holders. Then, in unison, we switched our tassels from the left to the right and finally graduated. And even though we'd been told not to, we threw our hats up in the air. I lost mine, but I picked up another that fit and managed to find THREE tassels. Dad got one and so did Anthony, and when Anthony gets his tassel he'll put it with mine on his rearview mirror. Neatness.
Anthony hugged me so much and told me he was proud of me. Dad did too. And Mom, and Grandma. I'll have to make them even prouder at Sac State. No more slacking now! I'll do my best, I promise.
Back at the house there was cake cutting and I opened my graduation presents. I had to go to Grad Night, but I only had to be there by midnight so with $40.00 Anthony and I intercepted Alisha and we all went to Denny's for a quick snack and talk.
Grad Night was FUN! The decorations of "A Night in the Jungle" were wonderful and there was so much to do. I got my fortune told and my hair done and went Cosmic Bowling. I hung out with Alisha, Ian and Chris Flores the whole night and besides the akwardness from Ian and Alisha, I had a blast.
Chris and I came to a revelation: We have been RETARDS about the whole break-up thing! I mean, for a year and a half we didn't speak or acknowledge each other AT ALL at school, then within the last month we finally started talking again. It felt so nice to know that things are okay between us now. He's moved on and so have I, so it's not like we have to worry about sexual tension or anything. And it's good to get closure about the whole thing because I know he still had some baggage and so did I. Just clearing the air and knowing I still have a friend made Grad Night so very special to me, I know I won't forget it. Towards the end he and I crashed on some pillows that had been the Henna place and just talked about our new relationships and our relationship together, and it felt so nice. We both realized that we had made a big mistake by pretending we didn't exist to each other for so long, and when Grad Night ended we exchanged numbers again and promised to call. I hope we do.
I got home at around 6 this morning and slept in until noon. Sleep is sooo good! In fact, I think I'll in dulge myself some more in that.
Oh yes though, before I forget...*ahem*
CLASS OF 2004 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
