Remember how badly I wanted to go to UCLA? There was no other reason for this other than that it was in L.A. and I wanted to be a movie star.
Now I'm sitting in class with the student body president of UCLA (presumably an ideal position) at the PPIA program at UC Berkeley. PPIA recruits high achieving juniors from across the country and pays for them to travel across the country and spend 7 weeks studying public policy here at The Goldman School at Berkeley. They give us a $1000 stipend and are upfront in saying that when we are heavily recruited for graduate school in the the next few years, they want us to choose Berkeley.
It's just funny how things work out. I didn't get in to UCLA but I wound up in the same place as on of their most accomplished students. Maybe they knew that I didn't need to spend so much money to start in theatre and change my major 5 times before senior year. Maybe they didn't know anything and missed out on me.
Maybe I should go to Flanagan and tell Mr. DeValk, who told me I'd never accomplish anything phenomenal, to kiss my ass.
