Everyone MUST go check out the entry in this journal. I wish I could figure out how to just embed the YouTube vid in my journal but I am 'tarted. so go damn you
Well, why can't you still play? Ok, so I agree its harder to find decent gamer friends these days. However, WotC has recently instituted some essentially online gamer connections. And there is always the forums there for searching for gamers in the area. Though the best place will always remain the friendly local gaming shop :)
Of course you could always instigate things yourself... just have to grab a few people you like and introduce them if they are new. Good luck with it :)
I'm 34 and setting up to run the Expedition to Castle Greyhawk after a friend finishes his campaign arc in the Expedition to the Demonweb Pits. And this was decided prior to the news... which makes the return to the main setting of Mr. Gygax's adventures fitting I feel :)
i'd play if i heard of a group where i could just play. i don;t have time to make this a quest however.
my instigating days are long over. i had boxes of scenarios that i had written in the early 80's and support materials. It takes too much work to be a DM.
FYI: you probably won't believe this but, i produced the first multiple response RPG ever when i worked at warner cable in cinci. it predated ALL computer RPGs, and was cable cast as an interactive program on the QUBE system.
Well... depends on your style of DMing. I haven't done it too often and have a more barebones structure with good concept of what might need to be filled in at a moment's notice. The one considered the primary DM for our group makes extensive plans, plots, spreadsheets, adventure scenarios, and more... I have a feeling his current political/group structure would be more complicated than the most labyrinthe sections of the US government crossed with the Illuminati :P I more DM cause I occasionally have a decent idea to run with and it gives him a break from being in charge all the time.
Wow, so it predates Zork and similar? Very cool :)
A small group known as Dead Gentlemen productions put out a small movie called "The Gamers". It was hilarious and so true in so many over the top ways :P
From the thief of a group: "I steal... his pants!" "Why?" "Because I can"
For those times when you are in the middle of an adventure and you suddenly have one of the party members die and have to be replaced by some random stranger that you just met: "You look like a fine fellow. Would you like to join our band of adventurers?" "Sure."
