My honey has been ranting about LOST for a bit now so I'm sure everyone who cares knows how he feels about it. The ending was horrid.....that is not true...only the last fifteen minutes really. The two hours before that were great tear taking stretches of story.
But....**spoiler alert for those who did not see and care to not know**
So we have Jack touching the coffin and remembering. That is good. He opens it and its empty. Also strong writing. Now we change who comes in. It is not his father (that is stupid) but Ben who we know has been sitting outside. Their conversation is that of Ben: "Omg all the things I did" Jack: "yeah but you're not you anymore" and something about getting new chances (in doing this I would also want to change the hurley-ben-conversation-outside scene so the forgive ben vibe is not overkill but c'mon there is something I'm sure they could write for them that'd be funny)
Then one of them (either one could be appropriate) says "what now?" and the other says "we go into the church and we figure it out together" This echoes the live together die alone mantra from the start.
Then we can got to the inside-church-omg-everyone scene (without the-opening-doors-to-light ending) and also still use the Jack laying on ground watching the plane go overhead and eye closing scene (no, the two timelines do not need to be fully connected and synched together). True this is a bit more vague ending (no perfect wrap up here) but letting me as a fan fill in what happens to my favorite characters is fine. It would still give the conclusion feel and the all around joy that even if in island timeline the Kwans are dead, well, at least they are alive somewhere....And then let the debate begin on which timeline is real! Because that is what fuels Lost anyhow! The fan base debating!
So yeah....going with my own ending in my head and that'll mean I can still like the whole rest of the series. Because I really really do. Just those last awful minutes. Feh.
