Fun with polls

So, the Center for Disease Prevention or such called me yesterday to ask me if I'd like to take a survey. As a happy and friendly person I agreed I could spend fifteen minutes answering questions. I think the lady asking them was happy to get rid of me at the end of it all.
Well, she would ask things like "if a flu pandemic was spreading across the US and the government asked that you stay in your house as much as possible to avoid exposure would you?" to which I reply, "how do they ask? are we talking curfews and you get arrested? or is it more of a recommendation? and is this a deadly flu then because for the government to say such things they are risking panic and it must be something bad enough to warrant it, you think?". Her reply was "it is not that in depth, ma'am, I just need a yes or a no". I continued thinking out loud, "and my job really requires contact with people since I'm a waitress. I don't know that I could avoid exposure really. So maybe I would not be that worried in the long run, or at least not enough to lose my source of income. Course if there was really something bad spreading how busy would the restaurant be?". Silence from the questioner. I eventually informed her that the questions were badly written, though it was not her fault, could she note that somewhere on the sheet. You'd think to do her job you'd have to have more patience and/or a sense of humor.
