Replacement Cthulu

Oct 11, 2008 09:56

We didn't get to play last night so we are playing at noon today. It will be odd to play Call of cthulu in broad daylight but I think we can pull the curtains. I have work at 4 so it won't be a long game.
I finally read Shadow over Innsmouth. Spoooky...I still think Whisperer in the Darkness is the scariest though.

Sorry Deep Ones!

role-playing, deep ones, cthulu

It's been some years since I've read any Lovecraft - his books are part of that set I like to read and pretend don't exist until I get into a rare spooky mood.

Which story is it where the guy finds those weird creatures that are sort of inbred human monsters all living in a mound? I find that one possibly the most creepy.

I have not read that one yet.
I am reading the cycle books from Chaosium, so they contain more than Lovecraft's take on a particular subject. For example the Innsmouth Cycle has the Shadow over Innsmouth but also among others a story called The Harbormaster, supposedly that inspired Lovecraft and some later works by his friends that also had to do with the Deep Ones. Its neat in that the mythos are such a shared work in some ways still being worked on. I still have a lot to read.

Cool. ^_^ I need to check some of those out. I've only ever really read Lovecraft's books and some of the pre-Lovecraftian fantasy/horror literature - most notably Lord Dunsany. ^_^

Lol. I know the feeling of adding to a reading list. Mine is always growing longer and longer.
