http://www.yankeehillapartments.com/ It was really the best choice all-around for features, location, and neighborhood. It's within spitting distance of Cathedral Square, with its activities and farmer's market; it's bare minutes from 94 and 43, so good commuting; it's got a grocery store across the street from it, and another about 5 blocks away. It's on the East Side edge of downtown, bordering MSOE, so it's a bit quieter.
Most of the apartments are remodeled as they come vacant, so they're in very good shape. We're going to be in a 3rd floor unit (#306 in the north building if I recall correctly) so we'll have a street-to-roofline view. My only disappointment is that we won't have a balcony- instead we'll have two floor-to-ceiling bay windows. It's 1015 square feet- we're currently in a 650 square foot apartment, so the extra space is gonna be fabulous.
I'm really, really relieved that we've got this (almost, crossing fingers) nailed down. Organizing a move will be a piece of cake now I know where we'll be and what space we'll be moving into.
The roadtrip down will be another entry. Sally and I had an utter blast.
