moving out, moving in

Well, Thursday was my last day in the old building- we spent the morning packing, ate a company-provided lunch, then left with the security card for the new building in hand. We report to the new building on Monday and start settling in.

Unfortunately, there's a major problem already- DSI's behemoth of a Offset system only recognizes half its peripheral hardware. It's running on a ancient form of our software that no one remembers how to configure... except me. The last time it got glitchy 2 years ago I was able to fix it; they asked me to bring my voodoo kit in on Monday and try to get it running. This is a mission-critical system that's a bottleneck in production as it is. If I can't get it running there is the potential for bad, bad things to happen. Thinking about this is making my right eye twitch.

The 4th was good. We got up early and went on a full-clear Karazhan run, went to my parents' for a barbecue, then met up with Megan and Jeremy for a St. Paul Saints baseball game and fireworks show. The Kara run was fairly quick (4 hours) and good- I got my second piece of the holy priest Tier 4 Incarmate Raiment and few other epic items. The raidmaster is trying to get me to join his guild- I've an alt in there and have had a few middling experiences with other members being jerks, so I'm still not really sure on switching.

The barbecue... well, Dad made pulled pork. Enough said. There was also fried chicken, my sister's bacon-laced potato salad, deviled eggs, sweet corn, a huge veggie plate, and two kinds of pie. We sort of waddled out of there. :)

The baseball game was not so good (we lost 4-1) but the Saints are less concerned about that as making the whole experience fun. At the end of the game they let the fans come down onto the infield for the fireworks- we laid on our backs and watched them explode above us. It was a fabulous time, and I'm really glad we went.

good times!, gaming
