too much, too late

It's 10:20 and I just finished baking a batch of cookies to take with me to Seattle tomorrow. This has been a long-standing joke in Change Control Board (CCB) and I'm gonna follow through on it, dammit.

I still need to pack, but I also need to unwind a bit. We just got back from dinner with Nancy, who really needed to unwind. Memo to me: do not try to pace your drinking against your mother-in-law during happy hour. She will win. She had lots of incentive.

Alex had a blackout incident yesterday morning, and "came to" fully dressed, lying on his bed, and feeling very odd. He eventually remembered how to call Nancy, who rushed up and hauled him into the hospital. He's been finally diagnosed as having Alzheimer's and dementia. Care discussions are underway, but he is going to need some level of daily supervision to continue. They've already started him on a few of the key meds. Nancy's bringing him back to Lanesboro until they can decide on the best course of supervision and therapy, and the best environment for him to live in. They have all agreed (him included, for the time being...) that he should not be driving if he's blacking out- thanks be to $DEITY- so she's got the keys.

So much to get done in such a short time...
