checking in

Jon and Jennifer, parents of Luella, may they be forever blessed, have taken the kid for an overnight. Halle-fucking-lu-jah.  Ethan's in bed and I'm awake, for the time being.

Since I've last fact-checked the shitshow, Ethan has (hallelujah) been accepted for student loan dismissal. (I originally typed that as 'student load' dismissal and while it's true to form holy fuck yes, it's a load off my brain/general well-being.) Holy CRAP thank GOD that happened. I dunno how our "budget" would work without that particular saving grace.

There's so much I want to express. I know this "gift" may come back to bite us in the ass taxes-wise in a year or two, as some of it's considered taxable income. I think I can plan around that. It's just.... you sign the devil's agreement, knowing the 'benefits' of the agreement and all the pluses of the agreement are in (for the most part) your favor, assuming all goes well... then all doesn't go well, and after a pile of agony they understand what TF is going on and excuse your debt...

HOLY FUCK WE ARE OFF THE HOOK FOR ALL THOSE STUDENT LOANS because the person that applied for them is (certified!) no longer able to discharge them.

I am the first to say I am sad that Ethan's not considered competent to discharge his student loan debt. I love Ethan and above all the things I want him to be able to do all the things like a normal adult.  All that said, we are stuck in the here-and now and there's things he needs to do.

Ugh, $DEITY, what could I do to rewind time and make this not an issue?
