Circular Poem

Oct 17, 2006 02:23

This is yet another writing exercise. It's a circular poem, which means it should start and end with the same line and that the meaning of the line should somehow change in the interim.

I find myself in silence
Waiting for your answer.
Snow scent sharp
Through the screen
Although autumn's blows
Have not yet bared the branches
And the sycamore's still green.
You turn to me,
Eyes a promise of summer,
Lips the petals of some hopeful flower,
Saying spring will come to us.
What light kindles your smile!
If I thaw to your touch,
Will winter's winds relent?
Sunlight warm our hair,
Paint the evenings golden?
As you await my answer,
I find myself in silence.
