IM NOT STUDAYING & I HAS MIDTERM TMRW!!! (panicking!)
i have this totally wicked photo i took of a car accident from last saturday, but i don't think it's in good taste if i post it on the internet. nobody died or anything, but i dunno...
i just read an entire book about ernie bushmiller's comic strip, nancy" (it was mostly selections of strips). i love nancy. the comic sometimes verges on the psychedelic, and its amazing how it started in the 20s and lasted all the way to the 70s, and how frickin' iconic it is. really amazing. garfield really sucks now. i have not laughed at a garfield comic for as long as i remember, but i knew i was at least interested when the strips actually had a storyline. i really liked nermal the kitten and how garfield used to push him aside...but nevermind that. garfield is now a gigantic corporate enterprise, so who cares, right?! jim davis doesn't make the comics anymore, and he has a whole art team to do the comics for him. lol.
i just checked-- nancy is still in syndication:
http://www.comics.com/comics/nancy/index.html but its not made by ernie bushmiller anymore because he died in the 80s. it ain't the same anymore--it's weird. it makes me realize how a lot of comics refer to the current times-- some of the nancy comics i read that were made in the in the WWII and post-WWII era had references to hitler, commies, beatniks, hippies, fidel castro, JFK, etc. pretty crazy, right? the new nancy comics has nancy using a cell phone, a sluggo wrapped in aluminum foil on a skateboard as the "silver surfer," references to "being green," and GASP-- nancy likes hannah montana. yikes! things were sure different back then...
