Wow Texas and Iowa Who would have thought

We continue our investigation into the alleged abuse and exploitation of 21 mentally handicapped workers in Atalissa.

Last night CBS two discovered the deed to the bunkhouse...

It shows that the city of Atalissa owns the building that has been called unsafe to live in by the state.

The city's owned the building since the 70’s.

Robert Price continues our team coverage and takes us inside the bunkhouse...its something you'll see only on two.

Once inside...we see pictures of the boys are on the wall....

A disco ball hangs over the common area.

Warren, the bunkhouse caretaker, says it's not as bad as people say.

"It pisses me off, people going around like these boys are in a state prison or something like that...I don't like it."

This is where the boys live, most two to a room.

As you can see, most of their stuff is still left behind, remnants of their routines and hobbies.

Earlier today, DHS came through here putting pieces of paper on their beds, marking who lived where.

So eventually their stuff can be returned to them.

Warren says shutting this place down wasn't right.

"Damn right it's unfair...they're doing an injustice to those boys wherever they got 'em."

But is the bunkhouse really as cozy as it seems?

They have had several days to clean up.

Ceilings appear to be caving in.

In one of the rooms, we found a dog tied to a bed...sitting next to feces.

Other bedrooms are simply locked up...we're not allowed in.

And there's that awkward moment before we went in...

But Warren stands by the conditions.

"For the group of people we've got, I don't think it needs to be a damn bit better. I live right down there and it's the worst room in this building."

Warren's known the boys for thirty years now.

He says they'll be missed.

"I figured they get 'em scattered I'd never get to see them together again...yeah it hurts...sure does.
