The only kind of meme that I find interesting is the "write something you don't ordinarilly write about meme. So, it's the only type I'll occasionally do, too. Ideally, the choice points would actually be roleplaying-wise rather than mechanical (eg, player X has a big and meaningful choice that is going to impact not only her game but also the games of Player Y and player Z, both of whom have their own choices to make (and not all choices would be apparent at game start). The primary idea is really player agency -- the player must be able to make choices that substantially affect the game, and those choices should be more than optimmization/guesswork where there is a better and a worse choice, but should instead be creative choices emerging from the character.
