I was in holland again and I missed the new cover art for Harry Potter and The Deadly Hallows.

( Time for another poll, SPOILER ALERT for book 7 because of the cover art. )

I'm not convinced it's a locket. I think it's one of those leather money pouches, only he's wearing around his neck instead of attached to his trousers. Atop the "locket" there is what looks like the typical bunching of leather from being tied closed. And it's brown like leather.

Hmmm (thinks hard) very true, it could be something else, what about a time turner? Maybe they didn't destroy all of the time turners in the department of mysteries, maybe one of them was on loan or there was one in a vault somewhere?

Could be just a simple family heirloom locket that he might have found in his mother's things in the attic at 4 Privet drive-a picture of his Mum and Dad.

Fun poll. I don't think we'll be seeing or hearing from Sirius in DH, despite however much nearly every reader wants to. Come on, JKR! What's wrong with a snark/posthumous!Sirius?

Hermione will uncover something unknown about Hogwarts and Cedric Gryffindor.

I think you made a typo there. Although it would be an interesting twist! ;)

I didn't answer the locket question because I don't think it's a locket. Or, it could be, but the artwork does not scream "locket" it screams cloth bag filled with stinky protective herbs" or something, lol.

Uhmm...About the locket, if it *is* a locket (XD) I think it's more "Harry Potter-like" that he's wearing it because he forgot to put it off (or didn't have time, or something like that) and PUFF, this fact turns out to be very fortunate and helps Harry in his battle. when we're talking about Harry, it's alla about carelessness and fortunate turn of events :D

I know I already commented, but I've been thinking about this question:

Since Voldemort has the horcruxes he can walk in and out of the veil without dying. Harry bargains that he will give the locket back if Voldemort brings Sirius back.

Voldemort wouldn't be able to go come back from the veil. He would die and someone would have to do the whole graveyard potion again, using a different Horcrux. Harry COULD trick him into doing this, to buy more time to find the rest of the Horcruxes without a walking, talking, actual Voldemort in the way, but Voldemort is probably aware of this.

Too true, there'd be a slithering Voldemort 'essence' coming out of the veil and Harry would be sorry he didn't get Sirius back. I'm glad you came back to mention this, I wouldn't have thought of it, thanks :)

Thank you for the link to to high-res pic! Only now did I notice the elf, presumably Dobby, and it annoys me severly :S The immage of the stag is also unerving, but perhaps it's dimply Harry's partonus? Still, at least now I'm prepared :)
