We labor to make a house a home,
then every time we're expecting visitors,
we rush to turn it back into a house.
------- Robert Brault
She's different. She actually looks like an adult, not some kid off the streets. Kame continued to look on as the party headed towards him, never looking away from the woman. The woman had on a suit, not a dress suit, but a pants suit; her hair was put into a tight bun, not a hair out of place; her make-up was flawless, her eyes rimmed with black eyeliner. No wonder they had all thought that, she looks stern...and hella scary...However, the most shocking part about her appearance was the look in her eyes. Wearing glasses that were edged and thick-rimmed, the emotions displayed in her eyes were that of business. Not a trace of humour or emotion found. If someone who didn't know her were to look at her, they would see a stern and up-tight woman. But Kame had seen how she was as a girl, a normal 24 year old girl, and comparing the two, they seemed like two different people altogether.
As all the passengers got off the elevator, Johnny-sama was the last the last to get out, but the first to come face-to-face with the boys. "Boys! Good to see that you're already here. Kamenashi-kun! I thought you were coming back next week?"
"Uhm---"
"It's okay, enjoy your free time while you can!" Johnny-sama said, cutting Kame off, unable to finish his explanation. Johnny-sama turned around, gesturing to the group that made their way to them. "Those, boys, will be our clients." Each word uttered by Johnny's mouth brought the boys closer in on the circle, until they were shoulder-to-shoulder. "See that woman there in the middle?" Johnny whispered, cocking his head towards the group. Some of the boys (namely Tegoshi, Massu, Koyama, Taguchi, and Koki) sighed in relief, happy that it wasn't an ex-wife here t take away the assets, while the others noded briefly. "She doesn't speak one word of Japanese, she has her own translator with her. Turns out she's Asian, but NOT Japanese. Weird, isn't it? I was sure she was Japanese the first time I saw her. But point being, she is currently the manager at Sky Inc.'s Japanese branch. Since they've just turned multi-national, they want some star influence to jump-start their products here in Japan. SO, they have asked me if they could user some Johnny's talents in their commercials. Of course I couldn't resist that ladys' charisma. She may not have even uttered a word of Japanese to me, but there's just something about women who speak English that makes them so unresistable." Johnny said, grabbing where his chest was for effect. After the lengthy introduction, said manager and businessmen/henchmen were behind him, waiting patiently for him to finish. Thank goodness they were in a tight circle, making their conversation unheard from the outside, but as soon as the hushed whispering subsided, Abbey's translator cleared his throat, making all 12 men look back at him. "Oh, my apologies" Johnny bowed, "These are two of the many boybands in JE entertainment, KAT-TUN and NEWS." As the groups obidiently bowed and said their hellos, Abbey took a look at the too-familiar faces that she'd seen so much of in the internet. However, when her eyes landed on Kamenashi, her facade faltered a little as her eyes showed panic, only to be concealed and she regained her composure. Abbey tried to concentrate, hoping no one saw her mistake; little did she know that the someone who did see her falter smiled a little bit to himself.
Haha, just like I thought. Gotta give her props, though. She's a pretty good actor. Kame smiled, but inside his head, he was laughing like a madman.
Abbey was scolding herself for being so careless. Darn it! I thought the staff was saying how he was on leave. I was hoping I wouldn't have to face him. Stupid head, I know he's my favorite, but why'd you have to make it so obvious!?!?
As Abbey finished her scolding and began to listen again, Johnny was now introducing her and her crew to the boys. "And this is the manager of Sky Inc. here in Japan, Ms. Abilene Chang, and her staff, some being from the States." the boys said their "Hajimemashite"'s and "Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu"'s.
After exchanging formalities, Abbey turned to Johnny-sama "I'll have my secretaries call your offices later to set up another meeting to determine the idols who'll be cooperating with us."
"Certainly, of course" Johnny replied after the managers' translator finished translating.
There were more formalities exchanged as the group left the jimusho, soon after them was Kamenashi, saying he still felt a little drained and probably needed more rest. No one questioned him further, only sending him words of comfort, to rest more and they'll see him when he should be working.
Kame knew it was wrong for him to lie to his friends, especially his boss, but he wasn't completely lying. He would go home and rest, as soon as he saw Abbey home safely. And okay, even though he really just wanted to see and how she was living, no one had to know.
As Kame came closer to the revolving doors of the jimusho, he slowed down so no one would, hopefully, see that he was following/stalking the peopl who were about to go into the black shiny car with the Sky Inc. license plate.
Confused, Kame looked on as the car drove off... withOUT Abbey?! She stood on the curb and did a stiff wave to the departing car. She then continued to walk down the sidewalk, taking off her glasses and undoing her bun as soon as the car was out of sight. Baka! Does she really intend on walking by herself to where she lives? Does she not watch dramas or even turn on the news? Has her parents never told her to not walk home alone because its 1)Dangerous and 2)Could get you killed? Kame then looked up at the sky and then down to his watch, getting even more irritated with the irrational girl. And it's getting late too! Did she not read up on Japan's crime rates and things? Urgh. So annoying. Oh well, at least it actually GIVES me a reason to follow her. As Kame finished his thoughts, he could see that Abbey was fastly approaching the crowd at the end of the sidewalk, waiting for the green light to crass. "Shit! I need to catch up with her! I can't loose sight of her in that big crowd!"
~Abbey POV~
Okay, I know I probably shouldn't be walking alone in Tokyo, especially when its begun to grow dark. But let's face the facts here:
- I look like a crazy scary bitchy businesswoman, which, don't get me wrong, I'm supposed to right now
- I know basic martial arts and enough self defense to take down someone weighing 300 lbs or less
- and I have to say, I don't even look like I could get a drunk man to go home with me right now (which I never would, but hypothetically speaking)
But I couldn't help it. Who could? I'm in TOKYO, JAPAN! I want to explore this place, not sit in a car with employees who are, more or less, a little bit more than intimidated around me. They're all really nice, but I have to be like this for my job. AHH! The lights are turning on! Waa~ Sugoii~! *Sigh* if only I had someone to share this with...wait, how come I keep seeing a flash of red in my peripherial vision ever since I've left the jimusho? Guess I was wrong with how I looked. Well, let's see if they really are following me first. Hmm... turn left...here, make a right...here, go to the alley...right here, and hide behind...this!
~No One POV~
Kame began to panic as he turned into a dark alley that Abbey had turned into, to only find that, Abbey. Was. Not. There. Shit! don't tell me that in the short time I lost her that she was...Kame couldn't finish his thoughts as he was grabbed from behind, slim arms interlocking with his, putting him into a tight headlock.
"Hentai!" Kame flinched, the attackers' mouth close to his ear. "Who do you think you are to be following me!?" As the attacker calmed down, Kame could faintly make out who it was that was holding him captive.
"A-a-ab-bie-le-h-he-t-ga-o-oh" Kame panted heavily, barely unable to breathe.
"Nani?" Abbey was sure that this hentai had said something, but she could barely hear what was being said.
"I said, let go!" Kame shouted as he tried to fill his suffocating lungs with more air.
Abbey got mad as she heard this. Who does he think he is to be shouting at ME?! I was the one being followed, not HIM! "Oi!" Abbey released him and spun him around so that he would be facing her, "Yo---" was all that came out before a very startled Kame fell on top of her, gasping for air. As Abbey didn't really see who her stalker was, she naturally tried to push him off of her. As Kame regained some oxygen into his lungs, he mumbled close o her ear, "Hold on, let me stay like this for a while."
Realising who the voice belonged to, Abbey blushed as she began to push harder. "Not. A. Chance. Kamenashi."
Surprised that he was found out so quickly, Kame immediately jumped off of Abbey and turned, his back to her, trying to hide an equally blushing face. "*Clears Throat* *Nervous Laughter* D-don't kid around! Why would Kamenashi be here? Who is this Kamenashi? What a stupid na..." Before he finished his sentence, he began to run, hoping he caught Abbey off guard. Shit, can't let her know its me. So embarrassing, 'let me stay like this for a while'? What was I thinking? God it sounds so chees... Kame let his thoughts trail off as he felt someone grabbing the back of his shirt, the force that was pulling him back growing by the second. Before Kame knew what else was happening, he was on his back, staring up at the stars which seemed to be...laughing at him?
"Urusai" He told the stars. But it seemed futile as the stars kept on laughing at him. As he gained more focus, he could see that yes, there were stars; yes, there was laughing; but what he was looking at wasn't the night sky, but at the face of the laughing Abbey.
Gaining more control of the situation, Kame slowly got up into a sitting position as Abbey sat down next to him. "Won't your work clothes get dirty?" he asked, looking from the expensive-looking pants to the alley floor, littered with dirt.
"Nyeh. I have more at home, I could just wash these anyways." She replied. Strange, thought Kame, usually girls are picky about these things.
"So, first you come to me as a strange man in L.A. who helps me with everything, then you turn out to be a famous Japanese idol, and now you're a pervy stalker?" Abbey asked, smiling at the memories of everything that's happened between them.
Kame laughed a low chuckle, which little by little, turned into full blown hysteria.
"A-are you o-okay?" she asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
As Kame calmed down enough to talk, he half-mumbled, half-laughed "So, I'm the weird one with the multiple personalities, eh?" He continued to talk after wiping some tears that had escaped from laughing so hard and after Abbey gave an unsure nod. "But you, on the other hand, Ms. Hypocrite, is the one who switches personalities like you switch shoes!"
"Eh? What do you mean?" she questioned, completely clueless.
Kame chuckled some more. "So the thing you do is considered normal? Having different personalities for different parts of your day? One for work and one for the time you---" Kame stopped teasing her as rain poured down on them from above.
"Ahh! Come on! My aparment's close to here!" Abbey yelled through the noise of the pounding rain.
As they ran through the rain to where her apartment complex was, they slipped and tripped half of the way to her front door. Due to the rain, wind, and her soaked through clothes, when she got out her keys, she fumbled them, her hands too cold to hold her keys properly. She tried again after blowing on her hands before she picked up the keys. The lock on the door clicked and they walked into the warm welcoming hallway, the lights in the apartment automatically turning on as they walked in deeper.
Kame looked around, spotting boxes of clothes and other things labeled in English, some half-unpacked, others not even opened yet. "I thought you only had a suitcase when you were on the plane?" Kame asked, eyeing a box overloaded with towels.
"Umm... I ...had them here before I came." Abbey said, coming out of her room, pulling a t-shirt over her black tank top.
Kame looked over at her, it sounded ridiculous, but he would never have thought that a girl with jeans and a t-shirt with ponytailed hair would look so...good. Sure he'd been with other women before, but none that looked as good as she did right then.
"Sorry the apartment's so messy, ever since I cam here, all I've been doing is work, so I haven't had the time at all to unpack and clean."Abbey said as she lightly kicked some boxes at her feet. When she looked up, she noticed how Kame was soaked through as well, if not more than she was. "Oh. My. Goodness. You crazy man! Are you not cold?! How come you didn't tell me you were wet? And here I am, such a good host, letting a guest stand, dripping wet. Hold on, I think my sweatpants are in one of these boxes...just have to find where..." It took Abbey another 30 minutes to actually locate the box, all the while Kame helped her, though not as fast since he could have, finding a box with old yearbooks, scrapbooks, and photo albums, taking his time going through them. He didn't really mind being sopping wet, already having to be in this state more than once when he had to film.
"Found it~!" Abbey singsonged as she carried in clothes and a towel from the other room. Kame stopped what he was doing and put down the yearbook that he had just begun going through, a little upset that he didn't get to go through the entire box yet.
"What's this?" Kame asked, indicating to the towel draped over her arm, under the clothes she had prepared.
"This," she shifted the clothes to the other arm as she held up the towel in question, "is called a towel. We use it when we hav--"
"Baka" Kame playfully said, as Abbey smiled in response. "Why are you giving me a towel?"
"So you could go take a shower and get out of your wetclothes before you get sick, sillyhead."
As Kame shook his head at her use of vocabulary, taking the clothes and towel. Abbey said that he could stay until the rain had stopped and when he comes out, they'll have dinner together since no one got to eat in the chaos of chasing each other. Kame only nodded and asked where the bathroom was, not really caring since he had no work for the next couple of days anyways.
~Two Hours Later~
"...if you're thinking about going somewhere in this rain, we suggest you not. Winds are at twenty miles per hour right now, including freezing rain. It's not going to stop anytime soon, a probability of it going on until the next morning." the weather man stated as the blue screen behind him showed Tokyo with all sorts of blots of varying colors.
"Well Kamenashi-san, I think you're going to have to stay the night here then. Abbey stated, looking up at him from where she was sitting on the floor.
Kame sighed. "Hai, sorry for troubling you so much."
"Oh, it's no problem, just wait here, I'll clean out my room and you can sleep there."
Kame immediatley stood up, keeping Abbey from going to her room. "No, I can't afford you to do that, really. It would be too much."
"No, it's okay. You're my guest."
Kame stopped Abbey from stepping aside him, gripping her shoulders, he spun her to face him, looking straight into her brown sparkling eyes, he insisted, "No, it would be wrong if a guy lets a girl sleep on her own couch in her own apartment." And with every word he said, he took a step closer to her until their toes were touching and they were inches away from each other.
Abbey didn't respond, being trapped in Kame's intense gaze, while her heart beat furiously. Kame tilted his head to the side, gently shaking her shoulder, innocently asking, "Daijoboudesu ka?"
"H-hai" Abbey stuttered, turning from him and walking towards her room so her blush wouldn't be so obvious. "B-but whatever you like, I guess..." she mumbled, mostly to herself than towards Kame.
Abbey gave Kame a pillow and a blanket, said their goodnights, and went to bed, both with thoughts of what the next morning would bring.
~Next Morning: Abbey's Room~
Abbey groaned as she began to wake up. There weren't enough hours in the night for sleeping at all. Not even bothering to open her eyes, Abbey lazily laid in her bed, half-awake, half-asleep.
Abbey had a queen-size bed all to herself, but she could never get used to sleeping right in the middle of it, used to having a twin size bed instead. So, she only slept on the right side of the bed, leaving the left side to be cold in the mornings.
Feeling free and careless in the huge bed, and happy to have no work today, she rolled to the right, then continuing to roll to the left until she hit something hard, incrediably warm, and smooth? Abbey slowly opened her eyes one at a time, afraid of what she would find in her bed so early in the morning. When she did, she was facing a broad, toned, and...bare chest?! Looking up, she looked up to the face of the owner of the chest.
"...Kame?"
