Chinese food

So I think we finally found a decent Chinese place close by. When we first moved here I ordered from a place down the hill, that turned out to be not very good, to put it mildly. Then we lucked out, there was a good Chinese place that delivered, and they were very popular, so much so that it was hard to get through on a given night. Their Lo Mein was pretty much the best I've had. We were happy with them, and made it a regular tradition to order when we came back from vacations. Then a few months ago suddenly the food was different, no longer same fragrant and hearty soups, or crisp and tender vegetables, then noodles resembled instant ramen. Hell even the driver was different. We have gone through many theories about what might have happened to the previous chef. Then we began to search for an alternate good Chinese place. This takes much more time than you might think, considering we order out maybe once a month.
So it was with some trepidation that we tried a new place that just opened in the last month. We were quite pleasantly surprised. The service was great, the food was quite good, prepared with precision and care. It was the little details of the place that I liked, like good hot mustard, the shrimp was tender, and the spring rolls were full and crisp. Another good sign was that we saw the owner speaking with an elderly Chinese couple having dinner.

Birmingham may not have a great variety of ethnic food, but I'm glad to find a reliable Chinese place close by. I urge you all to appreciate your local take out/delivery joint, you never know when the chef might get another job.
