Mmmm... Steak...

Yesterday, my cousin Paul, his wife Jodi, Jessica and I had the opportunity to check out a show at Orchestra Hall, consisting of Susana Baca, an excellent Afro-Peruvian vocalist, and Tito Puente Jr., son of the legendary Salsa / Mambo Man of the late 40's and 50's. I'll tell you what, I don't know how many performances at Orchestra Hall has a portion of the audience dancing in the aisles, my wife and my flat-footed self included, but they can't be too numerous, I imagine. Still, a great time with great music. Damned if Tito Jr. isn't the spitting image of his father. With a little luck, I'll get the opportunity to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo coming to OH this coming Febuary. I can only imagine they sound even better live than they do on their albums, especially with the acoustics in OH.

After the concert, we'd decided to sup at Manny's. Now, normally we'd have nothing to do with such a place, but since cousin Paul had come into posession a $100 gift card valid there, we figured we'd splurge on the uber-pricey restaurant for once in our lives. OMFG, that was some steak. Talk about dying, and going to Carnivore heaven. Funny thing was, Jessica ordered the Prime Rib, expecting it to be of a similar size and proportion to what could be found in other restaurants. Instead, she was presented with a Prime Rib that was about the size of Texas. She was beside herself. Understand she comes from a household where vegetables are king, and she makes it a point to serve a vegetable with most every meal. The server was kind enough to cut the Rib in half, and box it up, and even then, Jess was barely able to finish half of the remaining portion. So, that means I get to have steak for dinner for the rest of the week... It just brings a tear to my eyes...
