Okay, so I know it's been the New Year for about a week now, but here's the obligatory New Year's post.
My resolutions for 2008: Mission accomplished. I'm out of South Dakota. I'm working a decent job that's kinda/maybe/sorta in my field. I'm training again. And I'm hanging out with cool people, both new friends and old. I'm much happier than I was in Sioux Falls, it's really laughable to compare SoDak and the TC. It still sometimes seems like this is a dream, and I'm going to wake up any day now.
Okay, for 2009, I have some ideas for goals. Not as...urgent as 2008's, but they're good ones (at least I think so).
- Get in better shape. I've never been in great shape at any point in my life, and this is a better goal than just "lose weight," even though weight loss will probably go along with as I accomplish this.
- Read more books. I've gotten away from the awesome habit of reading before I go to sleep each night.
- Pass a gorram Actuarial Test. This will get me interviews for the job I went to school for. After the 1st test is passed, I'll have many more to pass, but one step at a time.
- Learn a new language. I'm already on the way: I signed up for Japanese 2 starting at the end of the month through community ed. However, if I can find Korean classes, Japanese will be put on hold, because Korean classes are much more uncommon than Japanese. I do want to be fluent in both, but I have years to do that.
These are goals that I'm already working on, but putting them down somewhere in writing helps motivation. All in all, 2008 was a year of change for me, and I can't wait to see what 2009 has to offer!
