lurkers and a "hello!" :) ladynanook December 4 2006, 20:12:11 UTC
99% of what i post is public.

i just happened to notice that you'd added me to your friends list. hello there! :)

i think that some people get in trouble for their journals when people realize who they are in real life. i have one friend who was fired from their job because although they did not name the company, they posted some "public" posts about their opinion of the company and it's direction. When my friend was "outed" to the boss about the journal, my friend was fired for disclosing confidential company information. likely not a legal reason but it was the one given.

i also know of several other people who have had their lives troubled by content they've posted to LJ or other blogs (child custody battles come to mind, especially in the case of kink folk).

anyway, just sayin' that the reason journals go dead or go friends only isn't always because of a lurker :)

personally...i like to know why someone reads my LJ. i also love to get comments (they're really a type of sounding board, ya know?). but...i dont' deny access to things just because i don't hear from a person and why they're reading my LJ. :)
