Closed Post; Mundane Practices

Jul 07, 2009 02:37

Athelstan reveled in the sense of normality that nighttime rituals offered him. Brushing his teeth, changing into loose fitted pajama bottoms. After a day of sitting at the edge of insanity, cruelty and vicious anger threatening to break through his facade of the placid and studious Slytherin, it was calming to engage in the mundane practices of dental hygeine. The strong taste and scent of mint cleared his sinuses and made his eyes water.

He stared at his reflection in the mirror. The dark smears of makeup around his eyes made him appear far paler than he was, and when he grinned his lips stretch thin and white over his teeth. Tossing his toothbrush carelessly into the holder supplied for it, Athelstan left the bathroom and prowled into the dormitory. There was only one other boy there.

Athelstan fought the urge to purr.

"Good evening, Walden," he said, voice soft, head tilted slightly to one side as he regarded his fellow Slytherin. "Not joining in the festivities downstairs? You never did strike me as one for ruccous celebration. Private parties more your style?"
