New School...weird

So today was my first day at Robert Gray Middle School  by the way I think PPS takes the most horrible pictures of it's school sites for it's pages. It even has it's own school page. It's really tiny for a middle school though, only 2 levels and it's only a partial second lower level, and its an L shape.

My classroom is stocked with supplies almost to the point where it's messy and crammed, more like it is messy and crammed. There is no counter space (granted we have a whole separate lab class if we needed one) because there's all sorts of stuff, some of which I'm not even sure is used at all on the counter. My CT is most certainly interesting, a bit technology resistant although she has a laptop and projector in the classroom. I can't tell whether she is excited to have me here and will be a good mentor and she's just busy so she doesn't really have time to coddle me or introduce me to everything, I am hoping that tomorrow and the Monday after Thanksgiving break will be a better time to kinda go through some things and figure stuff out, because I will need my own space in the classroom to be my desk, but I'm not sure where that will be etc. Today even though it was conferences I didn't get to go to because I don't know the kids or parents so that would be a bit awkward, but I'll be doing them in the spring for sure. So I got to read resources that my CT had in her room, and check out the cabinets and supplies and the projects the kids had turned in, I also dug up some IEP's (looks like I'm going to have a couple of interesting kids for sure) and read those. I am hoping to get a copy of the Faculty Handbook and the student handbook so I can learn all that stuff soon. I also need to get class seating charts copied so I can work on learning names and getting that down asap.

I like the fact that the school is small. And today wasn't all bad my CT invited me to lunch with her and 3 other faculty members and I am hoping that things continue to get better as the school returns to normal with kids back and what not.
