It was his eyes that did it. Leaving the church, his little brother looked even more defeated than when they’d walked in. Hours of prayer and sore knees and Murphy’s burden was heavier on his shoulders than ever before.

He took a deep breath and offered his own silent prayer, knowing it wouldn’t be answered. No matter; he’d rather spend eternity in Hell than watch his twin suffer one more minute.

Connor unbuckled his belt, watched his brother jump at the sound from the corner of his eye. Saw his pink tongue dart out and lick his lips as the zip came down. After that, Connor just focused on himself.

“You can watch,” he murmured as he took himself in hand and rolled the limp flesh in his palm. He gave an experimental tug and it felt nice. He brushed his thumb against the head a few times, then gave another tug.

He tried not to think about Murphy sitting three feet away, tried to block out the sound of his breathing, ignore the little hitches and gasps. Instead, he visualized the last woman he’d been with, the way her hair had brushed over the tops of her breasts when he’d lain her down, the sight of her spreading her bare legs, the look on her face when he’d come over it.

He finally had the beginnings of an erection to work with, and each sensation took on a new dimension as Murphy watched in rapture, tear-bright eyes fixed on Connor’s hand.

Mental camera change to the first girl he’d met in Boston and he was doing this in earnest now. Steady strokes, the occasional twist at the top and he was ignoring Murphy sitting right there as the pressure built at the base of his spine, thinking instead about absolution as he came over his fist.

As he slowly became aware of his place in the world again, Connor turned to see Murphy’s tear-stained face. He hadn’t expected to see such fear and regret painted over his features, and as Murphy raised a shaking hand to wipe his cheek, Connor knew they were lost forever.
