Summary:  Twins do everything together.
Author's Note: I wrote the bulk of this in a meeting at work today.  My boss thought I was working on the quarterly report and asked to see it.  Um, no.

They’d done this a million times. They had a pattern, an ever evolving pattern full of muted changes, but a pattern nonetheless.

Side by side, they’d stand under the dual streams of water, the heat enveloping them both, pushing in so slowly that it was always a surprise when the almost claustrophobic atmosphere walled them off from the rest of the world.

Water cascading over flesh, muscle and sinew rippling under the torrent, gasps fighting the thick air and landing softly against the tile. Hands sliding, rubbing, flexing against engorged flesh. Sometimes a moan, sometimes a grunt, but never a word joined them.

Unable to separate even for this, a lifetime of seconds shared, side by side. They were in this alone together.

A flash of blue meets lowered lids before his brother’s mouth is tumbling open for another gasp and their eyes meet. Connor’s hair plastered to his skull and Murphy thinks: Together in everything. Holding back and waiting for the other, burying that need deep and living for permission. Living for that release while denying it.

Motions speeding up, shoulder muscles bunching, biceps contracting and feet shifting restlessly against the mosaic below. Jaw clenching and teeth bared, the blonde head dips once, an utterance slips into the steam and the imagination twists it into “Aye” in that honey voice and Murphy doesn’t need to wait any more.

Two bodies from the same source, made of the same pieces and still so different. One mind between them, though, and they jumped off the cliff at the same instant, that moment of suspended animation holding them in rapture before the inevitable fall back to earth.

They always catch each other, their laughter dissipating the steam as they kick and splash the water, corralling the vestiges of their release down the twin drains.

Murphy shakes his head violently towards Connor and Connor counterattacks with a bar of soap and as it skids out of their universe, their taunts and jeers fade behind it.
