HAPPY MONDAY!!

Today, I bring you not one, but TWO short fics.

I'm feeling productive!!

The first is an idea I've had bubbling since episode 1 of series 2, that was just begging for a backstory, kindly encouraged by eolivet.

Title: Facing Up
Rating: K
Characters/Pairing: Mary, Isobel, M/M
Summary: Mary's too late to make amends, but not all is entirely lost.

Aww thank you so much!! I really have you to thank for the first, I wouldn't have written it without your encouragement (lol that happens quite often!!). And I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Heee, I enjoyed thinking about the second... It's Matthew that gives the nice visuals, not me.. ;D

Soooo that must be the dirtiest game of table tennis imaginative! *cough* I loved the banter and the imagery and the setting!

And as for the first one, it was so sweet and poignant and sad and completely canon. It's really nice to read something by you from Mary's perspective (I think I might be a little to blame here...) but her heartache really came over so wonderfully. This scene definitely happened!

And in both, the dialogue was quite perfect!

Hahaha I'm glad you enjoyed the table tennis, thank you!! It's their faults. They can make everything dirty. :P

I so appreciate your comments on the first - really, I always, always value your opinion on things from Mary's pov, because you're right, I don't often take it! So thank you so much!! :)

I was soo glad to see someone tackle the backstory of that picture. It occurred to me only fleetingly that there was some questions as to how she would have come into possession of that picture. Was it given to her when their family assumed they were going to be engaged? I love your explanation, because I do think that despite having every reason to blame Mary for her son's enlistment, Isobel showed in S2E1 that she too had hoped for a M/M reconciliation. After everything, she still knew that Mary had more depth, etc. - was worthy of her son - than her actions might have led one to believe.

As for the second story - just delightful. I love Mary pushing it enough with Matthew to encourage a modest disrobing! squee! Thank you for sharing...you eased the ache in my M/M heart.

I'm really glad you thought this a workable explanation for the photograph - I thought long and hard over it! My other thought was that Matthew had given it to her after he'd proposed, before she went to London, but I just couldn't quite work it. And I don't ever think Mary would've ASKED for it. Apparently it's my Mary/Isobel bonding theme week!! :D

Heehee, Matthew ALWAYS should end up having disrobed in some small way... Always... *sigh*

Such lovely stories, both of them! The first was very sweet and poignant and you have me quite feeling for Mary and admiring Isobel. I love this backstory to the photo and the ending was just beautiful - from Isobel giving Mary the photo to that first time she prayed.

And the second story was so wonderful as well! It's nice to see them so comfortable together and I love the slight subtext to everything. And Mary, I fully support you sending the ball deliberately far! ;)
