[The last event left Cheyenne in a weird place and since then, she's been rather scarce around the village. Aside from getting food at one of the village restaurants, she's spent most of her time either in her apartment or in the forests just outside the village. Today, she's actually back to her usual spot: sitting on the edge of one of Luceti's ( Read more... )

[This is a really heavy question, one Luke isn't sure he wants to approach. But... it's Cheyenne. He should at least try for her.]

A person is...

[... How should he know, though? He's just a replica.]

... I don't really know for sure.

Hm. [Hey, Luke. She still remembers their first conversation. The one where he said he was a "replica"...]

Is that, perhaps, because of what you are?

[Yep, bringing up a filter now. His filters still aren't so great, so it takes a couple of minutes and a muttered "Stupid filters" before his answer comes.]

Yeah.

[Cheyenne doesn't even notice the filter, but does wonder why his reply took so long.]

[He's not looking at the journal right now. This topic always makes Luke uncomfortable... Even though Cheyenne knows what he is already.]

I'm a replica. I wasn't even born... I was made. I never even had a childhood... How could I call myself a person?

You believe a lack of a childhood defines what is and is not a person? [...]

Or perhaps... a creature that is created could not be considered a person?

A creature...

I don't know what being a person is even like. I was made to replace someone, not... to be my own person.

[Don't take it personally, Luke, even humans are creatures to her.]

[Although his comments are certainly making her think. Hm.]

If you are not your own person... that would make you the same person as the one you replaced, would it not?

Unless you are not a person at all, in which case, I do not see how you could consider yourself a replacement either. Did you not say before that a replica is meant to be a copy?
