[It was Sunday today. That meant today was the day Cheyenne had to do something she hated doing more than anything else in Luceti.]

[Grocery shopping.]

[She can be found walking around inside the grocery store, holding an empty bag at her side. Every so often she picks something up, frowns at it, and then puts it back. Occassionally she might shake ( Read more... )

[One more reason why spring needs to come - Shikamaru's tired of all this snow. Seeing the girl trip, he halts and turns back towards her.]

Oi, you all right?

[Cheyenne was all right, but if she had pride, it would certainly be bruised. Not only did her bag of groceries spill over the ground, she face-planted rather spectacularly into the snow.]

[She sets herself up on knees and shakes the snow from her hair before looking up at Shikamaru.] I am all right, yes. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence.

How troublesome. That's gotta get annoying.

[He steps closer, kneeling to pick up some of the items.] Your grocery bag still in one piece?

I suppose it does, but I have accepted it as something unavoidable in the wintertime. [She gathers her bag up into his arms and checked it over.] My bag appears to be fine, but I believe I lost a few items...

[She manages to see one of them nearby and plucks it out of the snow, but the others... not so much.]

I got 'em. [Or most, he thinks. He brushes some snow off of what looks to be a package of ramen - and isn't that ironic - and holds them out.] Hold the bag open?

[She does so and lets him return them to the open bag. This is the second person to treat her so nicely today!] You are most kind for assisting me. Thank you.

[She helps herself back to her feet - hoping, of course, that he doesn't try to help her here, given what effect that would have on him.]

[Only if it looked like she couldn't on her own, but she seems to be able to do that just fine.]

It wasn't a problem. [He stands for himself.] I'd have to be a jerk to just keep walking by.

Is it a social obligation to assist one when they stumble over their own feet? [This is a serious question here. She's tilting her head and everything.]

Some might not see it that way, but I think so. [There's a shrug.] It's the considerate thing to do nine times out of ten, anyways.

[More so when it's a girl, but he doesn't want to have to explain that one. That's more of an etiquette standard he holds to guys, in any case.]

I see. I suppose that is simply something to which I am not accustomed. I can safely say I have tripped far more times than ten and this is the first time someone has been around to offer me assistance.

[To be fair, its harder to avoid slipping in ice when you can barely sense the ground.]

[He can see how it might be. Troublesome, that is.]

Well I'd hope it'd be different if someone actually were around. [There's a pause, and he frowns.] Are you headed much further?

Yes. I am returning to my home in Community House 6. [Which was still a rather long walk from where they were.]

[A pause.] Although perhaps living quite so far away was not as convenient as I would have imagined.

Heh. Not this time of year.

[He rubs the back of his neck. Moral compasses are more trouble than they're worth sometimes, but it's not something he can ignore.]

I can walk with you, if you want. Might help to have someone around in case you trip again.

[That actually gets a bit of a smile out of her.]

I appreciate the help. I would so dislike losing something and being unable to relocate it in the snow. [That would mean having to go shopping. Again. Once a week was bad enough.]

Aa. Yeah, that would suck. [Shikamaru returns the smile, then sticks his hands in his pockets as he moves in the direction of the building.] You might try tying your bag closed. Make the knot small enough and you can still carry it by it's handles, but your groceries'll probably stay in the bag.

Tying it closed? [That seemed... too easy. She'll just go ahead and give it a try. While walking. Which is probably not a good idea when you need to be reeeally paying attention to the ground in order to walk.]

[But hey, at least she got the bag safely tied closed before tripping again? This time, she just falls to her knees. She doesn't get up right away, sighing.]

...it seems it is no small wonder why my kind is so rarely found living near icy terrain.
