Author's Note: I wrote a part of a drabble back in March that's been sitting on my computer since. I finally got inspired to finish it. It's a silly little thing, and I also enjoy the thought of Tommy as Tinkerbell far too much. Title from the Disney song.
Tommy knew that boy was trouble ever since Adam brought him back, all doe-eyed and dazed, following Adam around in his pajamas like he was entranced or something. (And come on, plaid pajamas? Who leaves home in those? More importantly, who wears those?) But now that he sees how engrossed Adam is with that boy, he knows something needs to be done. He’s pulled out all of his best tricks: sitting on Adam’s shoulder and rubbing up against his neck, leaving little kisses right behind his ear, wearing the tighter tights just to catch his eye - and nothing. Adam doesn’t even spare him a glance; he just keeps shooing Tommy away like he’s a damn fly and turns his attention back to his new favorite person.
So when Adam finally does come calling (probably needing a favor for his precious Kris), Tommy can’t help it that he kind of loses it.
“The fuck do you want?” Tommy spats, flitting right in front of Adam’s face like he’s going to fly straight into it.
“Oh come on, don’t be so grumpy T,” Adam laughs, raising his eyebrow.
Tommy reaches in his pocket and throws a handful of dust directly in Adam’s eye. “And I told you to stop calling me that,” he says as he glares and flies away, leaving Adam to try and blink the glitter from his eye.
Adam flies after him, one eye half shut, weaving through the branches until he sees a glittering light hovering in one of the treetops. He approaches slowly, resting his arms on the branch and his chin on top of them, just staring at a noticeably pouting Tommy.
“Really, I don’t see what you have to be so upset about,” he says, eyes going soft with concern.
Tommy rolls his eyes and leans farther back against the branch. “Of course you don’t. I’m surprised you even noticed I’m upset considering the way you’ve been ignoring me all week for that little…”
“Hey now,” Adam cuts in. “Kris is a good guy, and he needs my help. You know that.” He reaches a hand out, palm up in invitation.
Tommy just crosses his arms, turning his head away with a distinctive “hmph”.
“Look, I’m sorry okay?” Adam pleads. “I know I’ve been a little preoccupied lately, but you have nothing to worry about. You know you’re my boy.”
He moves his hand closer and wiggles his fingers a little, hoping Tommy will take the hint. “Besides,” Adam sighs, “for some reason he wants to go back home. I can’t imagine why.”
Tommy gets the hint, but he still refuses to move. He can’t help but laugh inwardly though. Of course Adam wouldn’t understand why Kris wants to go home. Adam sees their world as sparkly and happy, full of light and love. He’s always been annoyingly optimistic, but it’s one of the things Tommy loves the most about him.
Adam moves one finger up and gently turns Tommy’s head back to face him, his eyes lighting up when their eyes finally meet again. “But after he does leave, it’ll be just us again,” he adds, voice soft and eyes hopeful. “It’s only ever been us for me.”
Tommy’s never been able to stay angry when Adam looks at him like that, and he bites his lip, not even entirely sure why he was mad to begin with. He stands finally, moving to sit in Adam’s open palm and placing a kiss to the pad of one of his fingers. “Yeah, okay,” he whispers.
Adam pulls his hand in and holds it to his chest. “Well, okay,” he replies, leaning down to kiss the top of Tommy’s head lightly. Tommy settles in against him, suddenly warm and sleepy, wondering if maybe Adam is entirely full of light after all.
